Maverick Meerkat Themes (Beta) Released, Get Them Now!
Canonical Design Team just released new themes (beta) for the next Ubuntu version Maverick Meerkat scheduled to be released on 10.10.10 (October 10, 2010). For now there is only Ambiance theme, Radiance will follow soon.
Here is excerpt from their website:
One of our key objectives when we started conceptualising the new themes was their ability to be immediately recognisable as Ubuntu, even if represented as a small screenshot. As easily recognised as when it used to be brown – but not that brown… the incarnation that we initially launched was a bold new statement: a little unrefined maybe, but a good starting block on which to build.
And so the evolution continues…
These are beta versions and there are lots of improvements to be made.
The main changes are:
Indicator and application menus now have a rounded and more clear selection tab.
Orange Selection Colors
Glowing button selections
Clear rounded application tabs
Slimmer Scrollbars
Improved Check boxes, radio buttons and sliders
And there are many more changes you have to go and explore yourself :)
Download now from here. You have to download and install two files. One for murrine engine and other for light themes.
Edit: A ppa is also available: ppa:murrine-daily/ppa (I missed this one)
Check out the video
The quality is bit low as handbrake was not converting the video, so I had to make a lower qaulity .flv version. Watch it in 480p.
