[Video] How to Install Minecraft in Ubuntu 11.04 and Add a Shortcut to Unity Launcher

This is essentially an update to our last posts about an excellent installation script for Minecraft written by AllocateB. We explained how to install Minecraft on your system and here is a video demonstration of it working in Unity desktop environment on 11.04.

For complete installation instructions, read our posts on Minecraft. One benefit of the installation script is that you can add a shortcut to the Unity launcher. If you simply download a .jar file from Minecraft website, it is not possible to add it to Unity launcher and requires some tweaks.

With this script just install Minecraft and to add the Minecraft shortcut on Unity launcher, launch Minecraft from game menu, right click on the running icon and select 'Keep In Launcher'.

[Many Thanks to AllocateB]
