Much Awaited Game 'Dungeons of Dredmor' Released for Linux

Much awaited game Dungeons of Dredmor from Gaslamp Games is now available for Linux and can be purchased from Desura (Linux client is currently in beta).

About the Game

Dungeons of Dredmor is a graphical roguelike game with many engrossing gameplay elements, fantastic visuals, totally awesome sound effects and lots of humour.

The Story - Long ago, the Dark Lord Dredmor was bound in the darkest dungeons beneath the earth by great and mighty heroes. Centuries later, the magical bonds that hold him in place are loosening and his power grows ever stronger. The land cries out for a new hero, a powerful warrior or a mystic wizard like those spoken of in the prophecies of yore.

If you are not aware about roguelike games, then here is something for you:

Roguelike games are dungeon crawling games with randomly generated areas. They feature turn based combat in which the enemy only reacts/moves if your character moves a tile or executes an action. If your character and enemy do nothing, then you both can stand there for good. And yes, it features perma-death meaning when your character dies, you have start from scratch.

Perma-death and character development is probably the most fun part of a roguelike game and many avid gamers believe that its not a roguelike if there is no perma-death feature. Though in Dredmor you can have an option to play without perma-death.

Back to the game now, DoD features lots of character classes, items, skills, equipments, crafting and alchemy. The replaybility value is nearly infinite for this game.

Dungeons of Dredmor is priced at $5 but currently 10% is off as launch offer. Unfortunately I will not be getting the game until next 3-4 days so full review will come later. In the meantime you can sure watch a totally awesome take on the game by Total Biscuit.
