Bluefish Text Editor Updated, Install from PPA


Bluefish is a powerful editor targeted towards programmers and web developers, with many options to write websites, scripts and programming code. Bluefish supports many programming and markup languages, but it is mainly useful for creating dynamic and interactive websites.

Bluefish 2.2.3 has been released recently with new features and fixes.
  • A corrupted state in the syntax scanner that could lead to a segfault was fixed.
  • Code folding had major fixes and improvements.
  • Search had lots of fixes.
  • A lorem ipsum generator has been added.
  • The GUI was restructured in some areas.
  • New shortcut key combinations has been added.
  • Bigger cursor and cursor highlighting.
  • Improved zoom and custom colors options.
  • Many improvements to the external commands feature.
  • Many language files were improved, and more user configurable options have been added to most language files. 
  • You can now select a block of text by dragging the mouse in the margin, and move the selected block with <ctrl><up> and <ctrl><down>.
To install Bluefish 2.2.3 in Ubuntu, run the following commands:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:klaus-vormweg/bluefish
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install bluefish
