Unity 4.0 Public Beta to Launch Today, Canonical Presenting at Unite 2012

Game engine maker Unity Technologies announced at the Unite 2012 conference in Amsterdam that Unity 4.0 public beta will be available today.

As Unity 4.0 has added Linux publishing support, this will give developers chance to test their games on Linux platform thus opening floodgates for new Linux games.

Unity3D Engine is used by a large number of developers and in all, Unity has 1.2 million registered developers out of which 300,000 are active on a monthly basis.

Interestingly, Canonical is not leaving any stone unturned to promote Ubuntu as a gaming platform and it has already booked a session at the conference. Canonical will be making a presentation on how to publish Unity 4.0 games to Ubuntu Software Center so that these games can reach to millions of Ubuntu users.
