Liberated Pixel Cup Art Contest Results Announced, Winners Take Away $2500 in Cash Prizes


Liberated Pixel Cup is a two-part game making competition by Creative Commons, Mozilla, OpenGameArt and the Free Software Foundation.

Phase one of the contest includes making awesome free culture licensed artwork, and phase two includes programming a bunch of free software games that use artwork created in phase one.

The first phase has been concluded and winners have been announced. The grand prize of $1500 goes to Daniel Eddeland for his entry Farming tilesets, magic animations, and UI elements.

Casper Nilsson is the next winner who gets prize of $500 for his awesome artwork inspired by Japanese shinto shrines and Polish rococo buildings.

Johannes Sjölund gets $500 as next winner for his entry Character animations, clothes, armor, weapons, skeleton enemy, combat dummy.

Next, code winners will be announced after all the games have been reviewed by LPC team. Reviewing will take around one month and more cash prizes will be distributed. All these games are available for Linux.
