Ubuntu Phone OS Revealed

Canonical has unveiled a new Ubuntu Phone OS, featuring a UI optimized for small screen.

The interface uses same design principles as Unity for desktop (home screen, lenses, scopes, etc), but everything has been adapted to be touch friendly and suitable for mobile devices.

Hands on videos by Engadget and The Verge:

Ubuntu Phone OS uses simple natural swiping gestures from the edges of the screen to make it easier than ever to access your content and switch between apps. Every edge of the phone is used, letting you move faster between apps, settings and content. Ubuntu Phone will become a full PC and thin client when docked. Here is a rundown of all features.

Ubuntu Phone OS is still in development and no hardware deals have been announced yet. However, Canonical expects to launch a Ubuntu Phone in 2014.
