Canonical has pushed a security update that will disable all Sun Java plugins in Ubuntu 10.04 LTS, 10.10 and 11.04. Thus the only alternative now will be to use OpenJDK from repositories or manually download Java from Oracle website (or from unofficial PPAs).

Ubuntu Tweak developer TualatriX announced today a new version - 0.5.7 as a gift to the Ubuntu 10.10 users on his blog. The new version comes with lots of bug fixes and updated PPAs for many applications so that Maverick users can have one-click install of their favorite apps.

Ubuntu 10.10 'Maverick Meerkat' has been released few minutes back as part of 6 months release cycle and it is the first release that follows Ubuntu 10.04 'Lucid Lynx' Long Term Support (LTS).
So what is there in the review? We did a detailed review of Ubuntu 10.10 RC just 10 days back that incorporates pretty much everything that is new to Ubuntu 10.10 and there has been only bug fixes after that. Unity is shaping up really nice and becoming more and more user friendly. But one of the main problem I faced while using unity was accessing some files that didn't show up in Unity Dash File Browser. There was no simple way to access hidden files or files that have not been used recently.

Much hype was created over the Maverick default wallpaper in last few days. Ubuntu users criticised heavily the choice for the default wallpaper in a bug report on Launchpad. We also featured a post on it stating that the wallpaper will be changed.
