Unity Web History Lens allows a user to search the websites he has visited on his computer. It currently supports Chrome/ium and Firefox and has been developed by same developer who provided updated Ask Ubuntu and Reddit Lens for Ubuntu 11.10 in his PPA.

Ubuntu 11.10 Beta 2 has been released and iso images are now available for download. Most of the changes are under the hood since beta 1 so there are only few visible Changes. Beta 2 is based on Linux Kernel version 3.0.4 and Gnome 3.1.92 and brings improved multiarch support.

A new update to Unity 2D brings it almost at par with Unity 3D as now both have same shared settings. Unity 2D now uses GTK3 rendering and also new indicators. In last few days, Ubuntu 11.10 also received many other updates bringing in changes to Ubuntu Software Center, update settings and session menu.

This is follow up to our yesterday's post about the new Unico GTK3 theming engine in Oneiric. I will skip providing instructions on installing the new Ambiance theme (based on Unico engine) as you will have to tweak lots of system settings using gsettings and dconf-editor. Also I think, sooner or later you will be able to change most of these settings from a GUI.

Psensor 0.6.2.8 has been released and is now available in its unstable repository. Psensor is a graphical temperature monitoring tool for Linux. Psensor has already been added to Ubuntu 11.10 archives so it will be available to download from software center in Oneiric.

There are many Ubuntu users who like Unity interface and its ability to optimize screen space. But the default main menu is a bit of pain as all the categories are hidden by default and it does not support wine menus. There is an application lens but it is way down at the bottom, not movable and most of the time it is folded as I pin lots of applications on Unity launcher.
