New Elementary Theme Released with Dark Panels
Elementary Theme has hit version 2.0 that brings dark panels and menus and new breadcrumbs among other new features and fixes.
Other Changes:
- New Breadcrumb and Modebutton style for Nautilus Elementary
- New Dark Panel style with Dark Menus
- Revised Midori sidebar
- All new Murrine Buttons
- Scrollbars drawn with Murrine instead of Pixmap
- Dropped Equinox Engine
- Brighter colours
- New Progressbars
- New Listview style
- Tons of XFCE improvements
PPA:
The new theme package is not yet uploaded to the Elementary Art PPA. You can add the PPA to your sources though by running following commands:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:elementaryart/ppa
sudo apt-get update
The PPA will also have Elementary Icons 2.5 some time soon. So it will be a good idea to add it to your sources if you haven't. A teaser of upcoming Elementary Icons 2.5 posted by DanRabbit on Deviantart sometime back:
Dark Panels:
You can enable dark panels by editing gtkrc file in /usr/share/themes/elementary/gtk-2.0
At the bottom of the file you will find the following line:
include "Apps/panel.rc"
Now, replace it with:
include "Apps/panel-dark.rc"
That's it. Enjoy the new faster and cleaner elementary theme in your Ubuntu desktop.
