[UDS Updates] Proposed Compiz Changes in Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot, New Slate Style Dialog

In Compiz desktop session at UDS today, some new things and changes were proposed to be included in Ubuntu 11.10.

• New Slate Style Modal Dialog as a overlay/pop-up for currently active window and not an entirely separate dialog window.

• A new proposal for a dedicated program for configuring all the Unity settings without actually going into Compiz Config Settings Manager. Also all the settings should be ported to gsettings.
• In other change a decision has been made to stick with Xorg 1.10 and not going forward with 1.11 because of graphic drivers compatibility and other issues. Xorg 1.11 and compatible drivers will be provided in a PPA for testing.
