Easily Install Daggerfall, Doom and Many Classic Games on Linux

DBGL is a java based graphical frontend for Dosbox that allows us to play classic DOS games on Windows, Mac and Linux.

If you still miss old DOS games and Skyrim can wait, then this is the right utility for you. The only thing is that you have to find old DOS games first and then configure them to work with DBGL which can be quite a lot of work.

However, there are many freeware and shareware legal game packs that can be installed easily on Linux within few clicks using DBGL. These games include The Elder Scrolls: Arena, Daggerfall, Doom, Duke Nukem 3D (shareware) etc and are pre-configured to work with DBGL.

Instructions
  • Download DBGL for Linux (requires sun-java or openjdk)
  • Download your favorite game pack from here
  • Run DBGL, go to File > Import and select your newly downloaded .dbgl.zip file
  • Follow the on screen instructions
  • Run the game from profile as shown in the screenshots below
