Easily Share Files Over Local Network Using 'NitroShare'

Nathan Osman has created a new tool NitroShare that makes it easy to share files across a local network. You have to just install the application on each machine you want to use for sharing files and then simply drag-and-drop files on to the share box or use the indicator menu to send files.

Each machine using NitroShare should discover all of the other machines on the local network. The application integrates with the operating system, using application indicators on Ubuntu and the system tray on Windows.

Download NitroShare on Ubuntu by running commands below:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:george-edison55/nitroshare
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install nitroshare

Windows installer can be downloaded from here.

After installing NitroShare, launch it from menu. A draggable share box will appear on your desktop. You can drag and drop files and folder in this box to share them over local network once you configure sharing settings.

Ubuntu indicator can also be used to share files. To configure NitroShare, click on settings.
